With work on one major residential scheme in the Salford town underway, the developer has now secured consent for a second.

Salford City Council has granted Silverlane Developments planning approval for a 25-storey apartment project on the site of the former Vauxhall garage on the corner of Albert Street and Peel Street.
“This will be an iconic landmark development, which is integral towards the regeneration of the town centre,” said Silverlane managing director Steve Carnes.
The 256-home development takes the number of properties Silverlane is developing in Eccles over the 600 mark. BCEGI recently started work construction of a 272-apartment project featuring a 23-storey tower on Church Street nearby.
Both schemes, which equate to a £100m investment, are designed by Jeffery Bell Architects.
“This is our second major project for Silverlane Developments in Eccles and involves the creation of a distinctive place and a destination building that will assist in enhancing the emerging masterplan and make another significant contribution the reemergence of town centre,” the architect said.
The Albert Street project comprises a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and six townhouses.
The plot was previously the subject of proposals for a 22-storey scheme featuring 150 apartments.
